Mmm... Smoothies

A great way to start or end your day.
The pic says migraine reliever, but it tastes great.
This is one of the first smoothies I made with my magic bullet.
Oh, I did not use ginger.

Next week the post will be longer, I am short on time today.
Have a fantas day.

Word of the Week - Decorate

That's right, decorate. There are several meanings,
but for this time of year there is only one meaning that
comes to mind: Christmas decorations.

  1. 1.
make (something) look more attractive by adding
extra items or images to it.
Some people go crazy, but I like simple, yet elegant.
I am partial to the synonym: embellish.

Tuesday, Learn Something...

It is T- 15 minutes until I start T - 25, excited.
Getting hydrated as I will not have time to take a
sip of water once I start.

Learning point: it's okay to fail, get back up and conquer that thing.
This weight thing has been with me for several years.
Now I am getting rid of this protective layer.
After this, I will counquer my world (epic music playing in
the background).

This week the world is remembering Fmr President Nelson Mandela.
Awesome. His message of reconciliation has resonated around the
world. We can overcome anything in our world, as a people, if we are willing to
give up our stubbornness for the greater good.

Take your rest "Madiba"!

Musing Monday Hmm...

I am gearing up to start T25 tomorrow.
I am so excited, but then I thought about diet.
You can not out work a bad diet.
In the past several friends and a family member told me about
"Forks Over Knives".

I already knew that a plant based diet would be healthier
for us, but I did not know the "why".
Now I have the WHY.
Oh-eM-Geeee, I wish I had known this years ago.

Please watch it!

Okay, drama over. I did not go totally over the edge, I chose moderation.
I still eat meat, but only when I have a taste for it.
I am finding other sources of protein and eating 15 to 20 grams more grams of
fiber a day already!

I watched it on Netflix, but you can rent it or even better, check it
out from your local library.

Un-Sat Sat

This morning I woke up super early and decide to delete
and re-arrange apps on my IPad.

This is my new home screen:

The first screen has the apps that I use the most and
the second screen has catagories with "all the other" apps.

This has simplified one area of my life.

Please take the time to organize one area of your life today. Take Care!

New Headings for Posts

In an effort to add some organization to postings, the daily posts will go with that day of the week, so if you are following this blog, you may pick a day or all days.

Soulful Sunday - scriptures and spiritual thoughts, reviews on popular reads, and anything that has to do with religion.

Manic / Musing Monday - time savers and general thoughts.

Tutoring Tuesday - various subjects (this is for the little teacher in me).

Word Wednesday - word power from dictionary.com and motivational stuff.

Thirsty Thursday - drinks and smoothie recipes / site references.

Fun / Fashion Friday - fun and fashion, what more could you possibly want in life?

Un-saturated Saturday- this is the day I may or may not post. If I do, I will share travel, shopping, and chore adventures.

Word of The Week

So, I am totally behind on the word of the week, so lame, so lame.
This is like the easiest post to write every week.

So I am going to have to catch up by posting three words.
In the future I am moving this post to Wednesday.

In order to reach my goals, I will have to have fortitude and persevere at all times.

Goal: aim.

Fortitude: strength and courage in facing danger or trouble.

Perseverance: steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., esp. in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.

These three words are powerful. Put some action behind them and they will change your life.
Stay tuned next week for Word Wednesday.

Word of the Week: Bourgeois

When I was growing up, I thought bougie meant "stuck up". I could not have been more wrong.

I was talking to some friends last summer and mentioned that I was naturally bougie. I believed at the time that I meant that I expected things to be a certain way and if that's bougie, then so be it.

Well today, I thought to look the word up. Who would have known the word had two pronunciation...probably someone "bougie".

Main Entry: 1bour·geois
Pronunciation: \ˈbrzh-ˌwä alsoˈbzh- or ˈbüzh- or brzh-ˈ\
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle French, from Old French burgeis townsman, fromburc, borg town, from Latin burgus
Date: circa 1565

1 : of, relating to, or characteristic of the social middle class 2 : marked by a concern for interests and respectability and a tendency toward3 : dominated by commercial and industrial interests : capitalistic

— bour·geois·ifi·ca·tion \ˌb(r)zh-ˌwä-zə-fə-ˈkā-shən\ noun

— bour·geois·ify \b(r)zh-ˈwä-zə-ˌfī\ verb

Lol. Have a great day, and always keep it fly!

Update On My Protective Style

Update: so I redid the twists and was able to keep them in for

3 weeks and two days.

My hair grew maybe a quarter of an inch.

I will be using other protective hairstyles so

that I will have less breakage.

After I master the Senegalese Twists,

I will move on to the two strand kinky twists

using "natural looking" synthetic hair.

Commitment To A Cause

Definition of commitment: act of pledging or promising or
the state of being so committed.
Dictionary.com

So I've talked about losing weight. I've posted about losing weight
and even lost 10 pounds. Now, I am making a commitment.

Not because I feel like it, but because I love myself and
this body is going to carry me the rest of my life, this life.

The goal is the same; 120 to 125 lbs, so that's 20 to 25 lbs.

My mantra: Lose, Tone, Tighten

I will post every 5 pounds lost and share any tips that are helping me.

1st and 2nd Install of Twists

I twisted 2/3 of my head the first time;
the twists were over halfway down my back
and heavy.

The second install of twists, much better;
smaller, a third shorter, and more uniform.

One Month

A lot and a little can happen in one month.

I lost 10 pounds towards my goal.
I've finally gone natural. That's right I have a teenie weenie Afro.
However, I am installing Senegalese twists (a protective hairstyle), so that
I do not have to manipulate my hair.
Oh and now I can go back to the gym and not worry about what to do with my hair afterwards.
Yippie!

This is not me, but those are the twists.

Slow and Steady

My current weight. I only have 20 lbs to go.
I will have to submit to a plan, so I started
a challenge;

1) crunches, leg lifts, and planks
2) 6 sets - 5 burpees - 4 times a week
finally
3) eating green

After one month of this, I should be ready for Insanity again.

Live

Logo belongs to a great program.
Love the logo! Often times we live life and lose or have the perception
that we have lost.

I remember when I was in my twenties. I had already accomplished many things without
much effort, or so I thought.
List:
Made a human
Top physical shape
Mgr of Operations
Actress
Teacher
Mentor
And yet I despised my youth. Now that I am a little older, I realize I did some pretty
remarkable things. So now it's time to win again and this time celebrate and share more.
What are you going to do differently?

Wow, Be Consistent...

So, slow and steady wins the race huh...

Yesterday I was listening to a Joyce Meyers podcast.
She said something that resonated with me: "the flesh gambles, while the spirit invests".
This brought tears to my eyes as I recalled how I have been gambling with
"things" in my life.
I don't have a weight problem, I have a commitment problem.
Oh, my current weight:
While, I have lost weight, the loss is not significant, because I refuse to invest the time.
I will invest the time.

Getting Back To My Normal

OMG, so I have not posted in a while.

So I will get straight to the point. I gained back and lost the weight and I now weigh 148 pounds.
I did not want to post until I felt successful.

I recently watched this motivational speaker; the Hip Hop Preacher.
I will post the video that has inspired me to attack this weight thing and every other area
of my life.

I will be back to post the video. Oh, let me post the question;
What is you "why"?

I will leave you all with that.

Peace, love and hair grease!

M.

If at first you don't succeed...

Last year I was on a quest to lose weight but I was not committed.

I started, stopped again, started, stopped again.

Third times the charm right?
I tested the Insanity Workout for 5 days (over a two week period).

See the results!

I will start again tomorrow for a period of 63 days wish me luck!

My mantra, stay committed, no matter what!
I will be posting my weight weekly, along with challenges, great recipes
and motivating quotes.

My Man-friend will be motivating me as well.
